Titanfall LootCrate

It's finally here! I ordered my very first LootCrate this month and I'm really excited about what I got inside. Apparently, March was Titanfall month because everything in my crate was Titanfall. I got some serious Titanfall swag, and for someone who has never actually played the game, I think this is hilarious. I have seen it played by my favorite dudes on Smosh but have not had the chance to play it myself....yet. I know I will get a chance sometime, mainly because it looks like a fucking awesome game but also because I would like to know what the deal is with the winged wrist-band.
Anyways, feast your eyes on me looot!
I was thrilled that the shirt they sent was the right size and it will be interesting to try out some gaming manga. I haven't dipped my toe in the manga pool before so here's to trying something new! I was very pleased with what I got and am looking forward to next month, it should arrive just in time for my birthday. Woot for loot! Sorry, had to be done.
ps If you don't know what lootcrate is click here to see what it's all about.
You can also click here to check out Titanfall on Smosh. Laters!

Deep Into the Darkness

"Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before."
-Edgar Allan Poe

I chose to share this quote from one of my favorite macabre authors because I thought it suited my mood for how I have been feeling lately. I have been a lost soul of sorts these last few years, just wondering around, trying to find some meaning in my life. Being laid off from my job and going to school to improve my skills has not really brought me any closer to feeling like I have any answers. At the same time, I sense that something is going to happen; the energy in the air is changing. I don't know what is coming I just hope that I will be ready for it.

The eternity of the soul keeps us wanting more
In the infinity of the cosmos
We keep searching for the end
Tidy, neat packages wrapped in string
Clearly labeled and sorted
The chaos within is all consuming
Swallowed by the black hole of our own despair
We fall freely, until
Created is the illusion of stability

If you find yourself feeling like a lost soul, do not fret. Know that you are not alone; many suffer together in our own private hells. It is the darkest before the dawn. Just breathe and keep on keeping on.
Have an awesome Thursday!

"Justice"- Season 1
I will be honest with you, I am not entirely sure why I am talking about this episode. It's one that I watched with some friends a few weeks ago and it was of general consensus that no one really enjoyed this episode. However, since we are rewatching the entire Next Gen. series from start to finish, we figured we had to watch this one as well. Frankly, it's just not a very good episode; there is bad script, bad acting and, most noteably, bad costuming.

I don't know what more to say about it. It's the sort of thing that you have to have seen in order to really understand just how bad this episode is. I hope that the few pictures I have provided will give an idea of what we are dealing with here. There simply are no words.
However, I would love to hear your thoughts on this episode and please don't hold back! I will simply leave you with this thought; moose knuckle. Ponder that and get back to me.

British Fangirl: Doctor Who

Since this is my more geeky blog I thought what better place to talk about how much I am a British fangirl. I absolutely love Britain, especially the comedy and sci-fi fantasy that is produced there. One of my super favorites is Doctor Who. Now, to be fair, I have only really gotten into it with the new series; I never watched it as a kid. Quite frankly, I found the old series boring. I can remember coming across it and immediately switching the channel because I thought it was sooooo boring. I am so glad that I have changed my mind. This is truly one of the greatest shows EVER!
In honor of my new found love, I have started collecting memorabilia, which can be one of the best parts of being a fan about anything. So I give to you the Doctor Who collection that I have amassed so far. Like any collection, it is an ongoing thing; always changing and growing.

My darling husband put this pencil in my stocking this year. It was totally unexpected and I was really excited about it; more than anyone should be about a pencil.

Hello Matt Smith, how are you today?
You might be able to tell that David Tennant is my favorite Doctor. That is not to say that I don't like the others; I do. I like all the doctors for different reasons but 10 is my overall fave. Besides, David Tennant is fucking adorable.

Buttons and buttons. You can never have too many.
This is a little anime Jack Harkness made into a keychain. It, with the magnets, posters and John Barrowman autograph, I got at comic con last year. That was one of the best cons I have been to yet. I'm already getting excited for this year!
That is, you'll notice, the 10th Doctor's sonic screwdriver (of course). It does light up and make buzzy noises. It would be a pretty shitty sonic screwdriver if it didn't make noise. Just sayin'
I really must say that John Barrowman is the sweetest, most adorable actor I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I made it into his personal panel at con and it really was amazing to see him interacting with fans on such a genuine level.

Ah, one of my favorite things I own; my Tardis iPhone case. I have had so many people ask me where I got this and truth be told I can't exactly remember. I'm pretty sure that I found it at Comic Readers, which is the local comic book store in this part of the world. You would think that I got it when I went to London but that just isn't true.
So that's it.... for now! I think the next thing I am going to start adding to my collection are DVDs of the series. Believe it not, I don't have any! I rely totally on Netflix to get my Doctor Who fix. Here's hoping that it never goes off Netflix until I've had the chance to buy them all.
Have a jolly good day and bye for now!

Geeky Xmas Haul

Ok, I know that nearly a month has passed since Christmas but I just haven't gotten around to doing a post about what I got until now. I have to say that this is the geekiest Xmas I have ever had. I don't think there was one thing that I got that was not from one geek fandom or another, and I am totally ok with that. The crowning glory of presents this year will have to go to my Star Wars reversible sweater.
You can be Han Solo on one side and Chewy on the other, how cool is that? Plus, it's really warm which is perfect for these frigid ass Canadian winters.  The best thing happened the other day when I was wearing this sweater with the Han Solo side out and I came across another guy wearing the same sweater with the Chewy side out. I said, "Nice sweater," as I walked by and he just smiled back at me. We had a moment of kinship there.
Anyways, I also got the sweetest night light of all time, a Darth Maul light sabre night light.
Doesn't that look pretty freaking sweet when it's all lit up! I am probably the luckiest girl in the world to have a husband who would get these things for me just because I said that I really wanted them. Even though he doesn't fangirl like I do he still respects my geekiness. Sure do love that guy!
Finally! At last! I came across a 10th Doctor action figure. He is hard to come by in my neck of the woods so when I saw him, I snatched him up without hesitation. In his role as the 10th Doctor, David Tennant made me fall in love with him, so this is a real treat for me to have. Since then, I have made it a personal mission of mine to seek out more David Tennant films and YOU SHOULD TOO!
Thanks to an extremely generous gift from my grandparents, I splurged and got myself a Nintendo 3DS XL. It's something that I have seen mentioned on other blogs that I love and so I took this opportunity to give it a go.
And this is the game that I got for it. I decided on this one because Anna from GlitzyGeekGirl talks about it quite a bit on her blog and it sounded like a neat game. You get to be the mayor of your own town and you get to build up the community and go fishing; it's great!
I also wanted to make sure that my lovely new piece of equipment would be protected wherever I took it so I got a case for it. Being a Nintendo game system I thought a Mario case would suit it nicely. I love how this case has a pouch for the 3DS, a bunch of little pouches for all your games and enough space for the user's manual and your power cord. Everything I need, all in one place! Now I just need to get a Mario game for it as well.
So that is pretty much the extent of my wonderfully geeky Christmas this year. I am such a lucky person to have so much abundance in my life. Hope everyone out there had a great holiday as well. If you're up for sharing I would love to know what you got that you are excited about.
Have a smashing good day!

"Unification: Part One"- Season 5, Episode 7
I am slightly reworking these posts as I am finding my usual format boring and tedious. I'm going to spend less time describing the episodes and more time talking about what I like or don't like. You will have to have seen the episodes in order to understand my comments. Hopefully, this will keep things interesting.
What I liked about this episode was getting to see Picard and Data disguised as Romulans. Data's transformation was particularly good as I did not recognize him at first. It's amazing how much slantly eyebrows and a bowl hair cut can change someone's face.
Yep, that's Data and Picard! Still not a fan of the boxy jackets, though.
My other favorite thing about this episode was the appearance of Spock. Wooooohooooo! Granted, I'm not as big of fan of Spock as my friend but I do enjoy his character a lot. He is probably my favorite of the original series.
The thought of Spock deflecting to the Romulans is just silly and well frankly, illogical. (Don't look at me like that, you knew that was coming.) It's kind of sad that Sarek, Spock's father, dies in this episode. It's especially interesting to think that he died of a disease that let his emotions take over. Too cruel, perhaps?

Anyway, I enjoyed this episode and it's second part (this is a two parter, but I'm only going to talk about the first part). I also love episodes with cameos of beloved characters and this one did not disappoint. This was a much more politically charged episode than most others but it was still interesting.
If you have any thoughts on this episode, please share in the comments. Live long and prosper!

Quick Announcement

Just to let everyone know, a friend and I have purchased a button maker and we are currently taking orders. If you have any ideas you want made into a button just message me and I will hook you up. We are also working on creating some of our own designs, which I will post on this blog and probably my other blog, Painted Owl at itsallinthereflexs.blogspot.com as well. The button size that we ordered were 1 1/2 inch diameter. If you wish to place a large order (100 or more) then some sort of discount can be made.
This is really exciting and new for both of us and we just want to have fun with it. Hope to hear from you soon! Bye for now!
